2025 Alzheimer's & Dementia Care Seminar

Description
Alzheimer’s and Dementia Training is a pre-requisite for anyone who would like to be a certified dementia practitioner with the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. This program is interactive and covers the following topics:
- Intro to Dementia
- Normal Aging vs Dementia
- Communication, Feelings and Repetitive Behaviors
- Wandering, Paranoia, and Hallucinations – How to re-direct
- Intimacy, Sexuality, Negative Behaviors
- Activity ideas and Memory Care Dementia Calendar
- Staff and Family Relationships; Stress and the Caregiver
- Multicultural Considerations, Pastoral Care, and End of Life
Attend to learn and practice additional ways to engender cooperation and improve engagement, handle challenging situations, and communicate to be understood. Take back additional care skills to share with coworkers or staff care for elders who have dementia. Participants must stay the entire day to receive certification for the seminar and application to NCCDP.
Class size is limited to 50.
Note: This session should satisfy IDPH requirements for training for certified Alzheimer’s Units.
Participants receive a student resource book, NCCDP application, and a significant discount on certification.
Lunch will be provided.
This training requires a separate registration from the 75th Annual IHCA Convention & Expo. Participants are not required to be registered for Convention to attend the training, but individuals who are registered to attend Convention qualify for a discounted rate.
