This educational session provides a comprehensive overview of the end-to-end revenue cycle in senior living services, with a focus on how workflows, roles, and processes collectively impact financial outcomes. Participants will gain an understanding of each phase of the revenue cycle, from pre-admission through final payment, and how coordination across clinical, operational, and financial teams supports accurate and timely reimbursement.

Julie Karafa has more than 25 years of experience in Senior Living Services, guiding organizations toward operational excellence and financial sustainability. As a Manager with Wipfli Advisory LLC, Julie specializes in Revenue Cycle Management, Healthcare Compliance, and strategic initiatives that improve efficiency and quality of care. Her credentials include CRCR, CSPR, and RAC-CT certifications, reflecting deep expertise in regulatory compliance and clinical assessment standards. Julie is passionate about helping senior living communities navigate complex challenges, implement best practices, and achieve measurable outcomes. Through her work, Julie has led numerous Operational Excellence Initiatives, empowering teams to streamline processes, enhance compliance, and delivering exceptional resident experiences. Her insights combine practical strategies with a forward-thinking approach, making her a trusted advisor and dynamic speaker in the healthcare space. Julie speaks on topics including revenue optimization, compliance strategies, and leadership in senior care.

Sarah Benoit | Senior Consultant, WIPFLI

Sarah brings over 20 years of experience in revenue cycle, with a focus on Skilled Nursing and Post-Acute Care. She has served in a variety of roles in the industry, including positions within admissions, medical records, business office management, billing, and revenue cycle departments. Having a well-rounded understanding of positions held internally has provided creative thinking on collections and end stages of revenue cycle. Sarah celebrated her 9th year with Wipfli this month. She enjoys leading and guiding her team both in the US and in India.

Continuing Education: This activity has been approved for 1 continuing education credit for licensed nursing home administrators, nurses, physical therapists, and social workers by the Illinois Health Care Association, an approved sponsor of continuing education by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
